Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a Data Apprentice at Beazley, my role is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and incredibly rewarding. Every day is different. I get to work with real datasets, build analytical skills, and support projects that actually make an impact across the business. Whether I’m preparing data, exploring trends, helping improve dashboards, or learning new tools, I’m constantly developing and pushing myself.
I collaborate with amazing teammates who are always willing to share their knowledge, and that environment has helped me grow my confidence and independence so quickly. It’s a role where I’m encouraged to take ownership, ask questions, and keep stretching my skills and I genuinely love it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I absolutely love my programme. The experience has been empowering from day one and Beazley really look after you. I’ve learned so much, grown so quickly, and felt completely supported throughout my journey. Beazley has such a warm, welcoming culture, and everyone is so kind and willing to help.
I feel like I truly belong here, and I’m proud to be part of a company that believes in me and invests in my future. This programme has opened doors, boosted my confidence, and made me excited for what’s ahead. It’s been an incredible experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve learned a wide range of new skills and really strengthened my existing ones. Being at Beazley has given me hands‑on experience with tools, techniques, and ways of working that I’d never used before.
Some of the key skills I’ve developed include:
Data analysis: Working with real datasets, exploring trends, and understanding how data influences decisions.
Power BI & dashboarding: Improving reports, building visuals, and spotting inconsistencies in data.
Data quality & validation: Checking accuracy, tracking down discrepancies, and understanding how data flows through systems.
Python & SQL: Building confidence in writing queries, cleaning data, and solving technical problems.
Data pipelines & automation: Learning how data moves through the business and contributing to improvements.
Communication & teamwork: Presenting findings, working with different teams, and asking the right questions.
Time management & independence: Organising my workload, taking ownership of tasks, and becoming more self‑sufficient.
Every week I feel myself growing in confidence and capability — and it’s exciting to keep learning so much, so quickly. This programme has pushed me in the best way possible, and I’m proud of the skills I’ve gained so far.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is extremely well‑structured and has given me a clear path for learning, development, and progression. There’s a great balance between hands‑on work, technical training, and opportunities to build confidence in real projects. Everything feels organised, purposeful, and designed to help me grow at the right pace. I always know what’s expected and what I’m working towards, which makes the experience even more motivating and exciting.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive an incredible amount of support from my employer. The people at Beazley are genuinely caring, patient, and always willing to help, whether it’s answering questions, guiding me through new tasks, or encouraging me to push myself. I never feel alone or unsure, because there's always someone happy to support me. The culture is warm and empowering, and it makes such a difference to my confidence and growth.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive fantastic support from BPP University, genuinely above and beyond what I expected. The tutors are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help, whether it’s answering questions, giving feedback, or explaining a tricky concept in a way that actually makes sense.
The structure of the programme is clear and engaging, and the learning materials are really high‑quality. I always feel like BPP wants me to succeed, and they make sure I have everything I need from online resources and workshops to one‑to‑one guidance when I need extra support.
What I love most is how approachable and responsive they are. No question ever feels too small, and they really understand what it’s like to balance study with a full‑time role. Their encouragement has helped me grow in confidence, stay motivated, and enjoy the journey of working towards my qualifications.
Overall, BPP has been amazing, and I feel genuinely supported every step of the way.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification has had a huge impact on how I perform in my role. The programme gives me real, practical skills that I use every single day, from data analysis and problem‑solving to understanding how data supports decision‑making across the business. The content from my training provider links perfectly with my work at Beazley, helping me grow more confident, independent, and effective in my role. I can genuinely feel my abilities improving week by week.

5/5
Yes, there are so many opportunities! Beazley has a great culture with loads of social events, team activities, learning sessions, and chances to connect with people across the company. From networking events and group meet‑ups to wellness activities and volunteering opportunities, there’s always something to get involved in. Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Beazley to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would 100% recommend Beazley to anyone considering an apprenticeship. The culture here is incredible supportive, empowering, and genuinely welcoming. From day one, I felt like part of the team, not “just an apprentice.” The people are kind, approachable, and always happy to help, which makes such a difference when you’re learning something new.
Beazley invests in you. They give you real responsibilities, encourage your growth, and trust you to take on meaningful work. The combination of hands‑on experience, amazing colleagues, and a company that truly cares about your development makes this the perfect place to start your career. I feel proud to work here, and excited about the future it’s helping me build and that’s why I’d recommend it to anyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Beazley?
My biggest advice is to apply with confidence. Beazley is a fantastic place to begin your career, and they value enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn far more than perfection.
Show your passion by explaining why you are interested in data, insurance, or developing new skills. Beazley looks for people who are motivated and eager to grow.
Make sure to ask questions and stay curious throughout the process. You do not need to have all the answers, but you should show that you are open to learning and exploring new ideas.
Highlight your teamwork and communication skills, as the culture at Beazley is extremely collaborative. Being able to work well with others will help you stand out.
Demonstrate that you are resilient and ready to take ownership of your development. The apprenticeship is a great balance of support and independence, and showing that you can manage both will strengthen your application.
Most importantly, be authentic. Beazley values individuality, and being yourself will help you connect naturally with the people interviewing you.
Beazley is a place where you will feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to grow. If you bring a positive attitude, curiosity and a genuine interest in developing your skills, you will thrive here.
