Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is different everyday as i never know what the unit has waiting for me and my team. I support a team of 12 cleaners on a mental health unit so every day is different. I Supply a rota to my team so they know which areas they need to cover and i support them if needed. I do weekly stock takes and place orders. I have the safety of my team to think about daily so i have to make sure all risk assessments and COSHH folders are up to date as well as staff training.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am still very early on in my apprenticeship but so far i have enjoyed delving deeper into the things that i dont get to see very often. I have had to ask about considerations to buying equipment and the processes of waste management.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am very early on in my apprenticeship but have been able to apply a few new skillls. I have also learnt the reasoning's behind risk assessments and how to adapt to different situations when they arise.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Cant fault the help we get from the programme. They offer support via email team and calls should you need it.
I have had 3 monthly check ins with my tutor and i have a 6 monthly call with Touch point team

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have help on hand from my mentor should i need it and from others across the business.
I do find time to be a constraint whilst trying to work and learn at the same time.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They have offered help during and after every single workshop and there is always a recording of the class so we can look back at any point and refresh.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i cant give an overall answer to this as i am only early on in my apprenticeship, but i feel that this will benefit me massively to understanding more about Compass and how they work and how to perform better in my role once i have completed it.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not that im aware of although i know there maybe some things in the pipeline coming in due course as there has been some feedback from staff that this would help with moral and team building.

Yes

Why?

Although it has been a wild learning curve from day one they have supported me when needed the most. They have offered an apprenticeship to help me on to my next stage in my career.
