Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is focused on providing end user support for those who may have issues with their devices. I currently focus on hardware and software issues for mostly laptop devices and my general day-to-day consists of calling users to run through troubleshooting procedures so that they can get back to using their laptops.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
While working on the apprenticeship course I have been very lucky to have found a job while also being able to learn in such a welcoming work environment. I work within a sociable team made of not only lovely people but experienced professionals who have worked in similar roles for multiple years which has made the learning aspect of my course even easier than expected. They are all supportive within my studies and are quick to answer any questions while leaving me to my own devices and are supportive of me even when I make mistakes. This has been the most enjoyable workplace I have worked within since leaving student life.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Having some previous experience with technology and customer service beforehand I have been able to transfer over some of my own knowledge and develop on it while learning new skills not only for my job roles but for any IT facing job I may want to move into in the future, not only have these skills been learnt from my apprenticeship learning but from the work I do day-to-day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme itself is organised very well, being shown a timeline of the courses and deadlines for projects right from the beginning. There is less structure than I believed there to be initially however this is allows for the flexibility in which you can structure your learning to accommodate the learning style preferredd.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been greatly supportive, thanks to the many colleagues I work with I am able to call upon their knowledge to fill in the gaps I may have in my knowledge. I have been able to also use the apprenticeship team where needed should I have queries regarding my apprenticeship learning or have any issues that may be specific to my apprenticeship that a colleague could not help with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a learning mentor I am able to contact whenever necessary who is quick to get back to me when I encounter issues with learning or need technical support in regards to any learning. I have regular check-ins and find these very useful for my learning and allow for me to reflect and receive updates on my learning journey.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification is interweaved into my role as the apprenticeship helps to provide a generalised knowledge base where I could fit into most roles with a foundational knowledge and then with just need a specialised knowledge specific to the role, effectively giving me the knowledge for the job role, while the normal day-to-day work gives me the experience needed for a job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Since being in my role there have been a few events for special occasions such as Christmas and within the team I work in, team social events and also occasional networking events that come by into our office. There are not any regular extra-curricular activities such as a sports teams which I am aware of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have already recommended Computacenter to friends as I believe that they provide a helpful and supportive atmosphere where you are able to further your knowledge and also get your first steps into the IT field.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
The best advice I can give is to link any kind of work with computers to show your interest, and to be honest with your hobbies, when working inside of a team in the office it's good show your interests with the IT field and that you have some kind of experience with it beforehand and the office can be a sociable place as it contains the people you work with day in and day out so it's always good to be able to come into work and talk to others when there's time.
