Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves supporting the Head Chef in the overall management of the kitchen and ensuring smooth day to day operations. This includes supervising kitchen staff, coordinating prep and services, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed. I help plan menus, manage stock and ordering, control waste, and step into a leadership role during service by delegating tasks and resolving issues quickly. I also take an active part in training junior team members, helping them develop their technical skills, time management and kitchen discipline.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed the apprenticeship as it strengthened both my operational and leadership skills. It helped me better understand the management side of hospitality, including team leadership, communication, compliance, and performance management, alongside the practical kitchen experience i already had. It was valuable and rewarding programme that has supported my career progression.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed a wide range of new skills and strengthened existing ones. I built stronger leadership and people management skills, including how to supervise team effectively, delegate tasks, and give a constructive feedback. I improve my understanding of business operations. I also developed better communication, problem solving. It significally improved both my technical and management capability.
