I am currently the Bristol Event Planning Team Manager for Restaurant Associates working at MSHED, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Bristol City Hall & Create Centre.
My role involves leading a dynamic team to deliver exceptional events that exceed client expectations. With a strong background in coordinating events, I ensure seamless execution through to completion. My expertise includes strategic planning and client relations, all aimed at creating memorable experiences. Passionate about innovation and excellence, I thrive in fast-paced environments and am dedicated to continuous improvement and professional growth.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship, it's giving me a great overview of working for a catering company. I'm gaining experience i would've have otherwise and learning lots about myself along the way.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I'm currently undertaking the WSET L2 as part of my course which I wouldn't have otherwise had the opportunity to do. This has developed my knowledge of wine a great deal and is something i'm able to bring back into my units. I've also learnt a lot about effective leadership and how to motivate my team so that they achieve the best results and develop themselves too. Finally we also have completed a module on finance which has given me a great understanding of this area of the business.

The programme is well structured and we do receive the workshops well in advance.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Everyone at my company has been very supportive when I wanted to apply for the course. My manager is aware it's a lot of work on top of my current role and he is able to assist me when asked.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My trainer is very helpful and we have regular calls on my progress. I know I can always email her with questions and she always responds in good time.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This course is giving me a great knowledge of the business as a whole, which is putting me in a good position to go into a general management position in the future. This allows me to make more informed decisions at work, and strengthens the knowledge of my team as I pass what I've learnt to them, and put it into practice.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There aren't as such, but we have had a Christmas party and summer gatherings.

Would you recommend Compass group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It's a big employer with many different opportunities for development and support. My apprenticeship is an opportunity i don't think I would get elsewhere.
