Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My chef role consists of a variety of things. From day to day cleaning, prepping and serving dishes and compiling menus and allergen sheets daily/ weekly. I oversee 3 other people within the kitchen and a total of 8 other employees including front of house.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
Brilliant opportunity with a brilliant team. Learned alot and built a lot of confidence in areas I needed to in kitchen leadership, such as team leading and managing meetings and events. Assessor overseeing me was great and really knowledgeable amd helpful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Yes I have developed skills in leadership confidence, carrying out things like PDRs and managing different personality types in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
Good amount of face to face tuition with quick responses and plenty of patience.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My manager is fantastic and always eager to help, goes above and beyond to pull out files I need for my assignments and help demonstrate something where she can.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I see my training provider once a month with a good balance of face to face and online meetings, always quick to respond if I message also.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
Since I began my first qualification with the provider and company I have gained a huge amount of confidence in my role, helping me improve the unit, make changes and have a solid understanding of the whole operation.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

1/5
Not really, alot of the team can't afford to pay out for extra curricular activities out of their own pocket so usually there is just a christmas party paid for and organised by ourselves.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Compass group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

They're a really well organised company and the majority of my team have been part of the company a really long time with low staff turnover, demonstrating brand loyalty even in a small space. Being able to train while employed is a huge advantage I'm very grateful for and compass provides that, while many other companies make promises of workplace training but very rarely actually uphold these promises of promotion and improvement. In compass this is both possible and encouraged.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?

To strive to use all the resources provided to you for individual and team improvement, there's lots of online training provided free and many staff perks that you just don't get elsewhere.
