Design Management manages the design of the project reviewing documentation coordinating resolutions to design issues and maintain design progress throughout a project.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Having started just over 5 months ago, I have learnt a huge amount about construction as a sector and my role specifically. I have had lots of opportunities to meet and learn from new people. I have been able to connect with my cohort of apprentices and my site team have helped to support my development.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt how to use different software and data environments that support my role as well as learnt more technical design information and regulations. I have also developed on skills in Microsoft, in communication and time management.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Mace have a clear structure to the apprenticeship scheme with their training/development sessions, apprentice network opportunities and structure of progression and support from line managers and the apprenticeship team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Maces apprenticeship team. my manager and sit team are all supportive in the development of my understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Unfortunately the course doesn't match up with your development at work and not all of the content is relevant. Its first year so appreciate they are laying foundations but a lo of the course is basic overviews. Limited support from teachers but good contact with the skills reviewer
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Currently I don't think it aids the performance of my role there are some technical lectures where ive learnt about design in construction and specifics in the construction of building elements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Would you recommend Mace Construct to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its got such a variety day to day in the tasks you do and people you meet. Its a big company with lots of sites a robust apprenticeship development scheme. I have had some great opportunities to connect learn and develop since starting.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace Construct?
Show your interest and enthusiasm for both the role and learning to develop in a work environment. Id recommend showing an interest in the sector with work experience, introduction to construction sessions at Mace or even just showing a passion for the industry in reading/understanding.
