Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Checking, responding and chasing emails.
Creating trackers, schedules, excel spreadsheets such as pricing schedules, Bill of Quantities and cost trackers.
Attending whole project and team meetings for weekly updates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to use new quantity surveying software's.
I have learnt how to manage my own time and prioritise tasks.
I have learnt how to work in and utilise a multi-disciplinary project team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I have a allocated support system within the company and I am aware who I can go to for different needs.
I have development days with my apprentice cohort every other month.
I have documented guidance for my apprenticeship and wider career pathway.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
As my university is all online, it's difficult to reach all the departments as in when they're needed.
There are weekly forums for each new topic of new assignment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The first year of my degree has little to no specific relation to my role as a quantity surveyor, in terms of applying my knowledge directly to my role on a day to day basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There were orientation events at the start of my apprenticeship, but since then there has been a paucity of social events for apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mace Construct to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think its a good company to start your career in construction. With all the sectors they cover, there are loads of opportunity to see different projects even if you're not directly working on them.
I believe that they reward hard work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace Construct?
I would do thorough research on the company and the role that you're applying for.
I would also research level 6 apprenticeships all together and check if you could personally handle the requirements of an apprenticeship.
