Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As part of my Business Administration Apprenticeship within People & Culture, I carried out a range of administrative responsibilities, responded to enquiries in person, by telephone, and via email, maintained accurate records, and provided support to staff as required.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Within my role as an apprentice, I had the opportunity to complete several placements across the directorate. These included Payroll, the Digital Marketing and Advertising Team, the Temporary Staffing Team, Social Work Recruitment, and Apprenticeships. These placements were incredibly valuable in helping me understand the breadth of work undertaken across the directorate, identify areas of particular interest, and gain a deeper insight into the council as a whole. Completing my apprenticeship alongside this practical experience improved my knowledge and confidence, encouraged me to ask questions, seek out learning opportunities, and take on new challenges.
Thanks to the skills and experience I gained, I secured a permanent role as a Recruitment Coordinator just under six months after starting my apprenticeship. Had I continued in the role, I would have had further opportunities to complete placements within HR Operations, Health & Safety, Workforce Development, and the HR Helpline team. The apprenticeship is an excellent way to kickstart an early career or support a change in career direction. I would highly recommend apprenticeship opportunities with DCC as an employer.
