Back Office Analyst Review

During my placement at RWE, I worked as a Back Office Analyst within the Bespoke Contracts Team. The role mainly focused on supporting the operational side of RWE’s trading and contract processes. Tasks I would do would be things such as building statements used for contracts, amending and cancelling trades, settling contracts. During my time I also was working on process improvements and automation.

The company gave me a great deal of responsibility. I was able to work on solo projects to help improve/ automate processes. I was also given great opportunities to work on projects across different teams. I felt as if my team really supported and believed in me. I felt the work i was able to do had meaningful impact which was very rewarding.

Absolutely! I developed Excel skills by working with larger datasets and using more advanced functions in day-to-day tasks. I also became more confident with basic automation tools/ code and understanding how small process improvements can save time. The role helped improve my attention to detail when checking contract information, and working with different teams strengthened my communication and collaboration skills.

I received so much support throughout my placement. I was lucky enough to be in an outstanding team who had so many people with vast amounts of industry knowledge. They helped me throughout the process to learn and develop new skills. They were also a great help when I was struggling on tasks. My manager was exceptional and ran the team fantastically. It was a fabulous work environment to be part of.

Company culture was probably my favourite thing about the placement. Everyone I had the pleasure to work with was helpful informative and just nice to be around. There are plenty of social opportunities at the company which I really enjoyed it made the job very enjoyable, coming into work everyday and being surrounded by people you genuinely got along with.

I massively enjoyed my time at RWE. I was able to learn so much gain a set of skills I know will be useful in my next steps. Furthermore I was surrounded by supportive incredibly talented individuals who where brilliant not only to be around socially but professionally.
