Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mott MacDonald?

My overall experience has been positive. Over the last three years, I've been able to learn various skills mostly in Social Impact and Social Value but also have worked on projects outside this scope. People have been lovely to work with for the most part and my line managers have been very supportive in helping me develop in my career.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My main responsibilities include research and writing of social impact assessments, coordinating social value delivery on various projects and conducting training on social impact and social value tools.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

3/5
My role is very fast paced so the interactions with the rest of the team are limited. Unless I'm working directly with my team on a project, I will not speak to them much. This makes it hard to feel valued by my team. However, I do feel valued with the few of my team that I do work with.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

3/5
Perks and benefits such as the Westfield Health Cash Plan and Pebbles Perks at Work have been helpful in allowing me to go to things I would not otherwise do such as going for massages, dental cleaning or optical check-ups. It is not the best benefit plan that I have seen as it does not cover gym memberships or additional tech.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

4/5
The role has been really great at setting me up for success in developing transferable skills which will allow me to progress in my career.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
It really is a bit of a 'learn-on-the-go' type of job which can be challenging at times but very good at developing skills quickly.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

3/5
I've had 5 line managers in the last 3 year which has made it difficult to form meaningful relationships with them. My buddy has been helpful in getting me up to speed when I first joined the company,

How is your work-life balance?

4/5
Work can be quite flexible which is helpful for my work-life balance. However, during the busy seasons, it can get a bit hectic and require additional hours to finish work.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
Mott MacDonald's values are ones that I personally really align with. The atmosphere is friendly and the organisational culture aids with this.

How would you rate Mott MacDonald initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

3/5
For a team that works on accessibility & inclusion, EDI and social impact, we are not as diverse as we can be. There have been moments where I feel like I have not been given as good of an opportunity due to my nationality or race. Though this may not have actually been the case, it is hard to shake off the feeling.

How would you rate Mott MacDonald CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
Mott MacDonald does a fantastic job in CSR initiatives, constantly finding new charity partners to support, investing in social action and encouraging colleagues to volunteer.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mott MacDonald to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It is a great place to work, people are kind and the work load is usually manageable.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

2/5
The role is hard to explain on paper and therefore I did not know what to expect going into this role.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
