Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mott MacDonald?
Great. I have felt fully supported through the graduate scheme and by colleagues and managers. The graduate scheme itself has provided a good foundation of skills (presentation, networking, confidence etc) which have allowed me to feel more confident in continuing in my job role and in the company overall.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Report writing, on site surveying, presenting in meetings, completing fee estimates and pricing for work, providing advice and recommendations on projects, site supervision
I enjoy all aspects of my role, it is varied and interesting.
I most enjoy on site surveying, it is the reason I decided on this career path - to spend time outdoors and in nature and this job has allowed me to do that with a good amount of my week/ month spent outside rather than in an office. I have had the opportunity to go to a range of different places across the UK despite being based in the southwest.

I feel that through my role I have been given the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across the company and in doing so raised the profile and rapport for my team as a whole.
I have always felt fully valued by my team, as a smaller team within the company I am always supported and being mentored by those around me.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

The perks available to me are very satisfactory - employee health care schemes, cycle to work etc
I have found the health care schemes most valuable with the costs being covered by the company and just paying the tax on it myself.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

The graduate scheme has been a wonderful opportunity to develop the variety of skills needed for work in general let alone within my industry. I have found many of the sessions put on invaluable in providing knowledge and confidence for myself in continuing my career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

The graduate scheme has regular sessions/ workshops (at least once every few months) covering different skills for beginning my career.
The company also has a positive attitude to employees undertaking job specific training courses externally which will further improve our skills and knowledge for our roles.

How is the support you receive?

I receive the exact perfect amount of support from my manager, team lead and other members of my team. I feel that if I ever needed any help or support that I could confidently ask anyone of relevance and they would be more than happy to assist.
How is your work-life balance?

My work life balance is great. The hybrid working offered by he company has been quite key to this for me. I have never felt as though I have to do more than my allotted hours or any pressure to be available at certain times or outside of my contracted hours. I am always encouraged to take breaks when required and to ensure my mental wellbeing is being looked after.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere at work has been consistently positive since starting. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the company shows a continued effort for inclusivity, equality, and diversity through their policies, workshops, meetings and discussions.
How would you rate Mott MacDonald initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

They are wonderful. Awareness weeks are always covered via company emails with workshops and talks set up as well as consistent emails throughout the weeks with employee testimonies, information and knowledge shared.
How would you rate Mott MacDonald CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

since starting at Motts I have taken part in two of the initiatives run by my local office (litter picking and reading with primary school children). I feel that Motts does well in creating space for these initiatives and contributing. There is a monthly charity which we collect for and always bake sales and events to raise money for various causes.

Would you recommend Mott MacDonald to a friend?

Why?
I feel that they are a company with a positive, supportive atmosphere where everyone is friendly and welcoming and they do good work. The work itself is varied and interesting and I have felt nothing but supported and valued since starting.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

The recruitment process was simple and all people involved were friendly and helpful when I had queries.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
I don't have any really - the process itself was straightforward. My only note would be to not be scared to ask questions or seek help if you need it as everyone is friendly and willing to help.
