Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mott MacDonald?
Very nice environment, good people and engineers. Real responsibilities early on. Slow progression.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Prepare fire strategy reports, engage with clients, respond to technical queries, occasional modelling.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I was given real responsibilities early on, and handle difficult tasks. Support is there when required.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
Mediocre compensation with slow progression, similar to other engineering consultancies. Fire engineering pays significantly better than other engineering disciplines in the industry.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
Very good, hands-on experience. You have to drive your career progression alone - attending CPD events and preparing for chartership. Although support is there if you need it.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
Learning on the job. Occasional formal fire engineering training is provided.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Good support, although sometimes your voice can be lost within the layers of the company.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Standard 9-5.30pm. More flexibility (working from abroad) would have been better.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Good culture and people. People with strong focus on extra-curriculars and networking seem to do better than others. Technical excellence is also recognised, although not always the priority.
How would you rate Mott MacDonald initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
Quite a few initiatives and generally a very friendly and inclusive work environment in the London office.
How would you rate Mott MacDonald CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
