Chance to shadow a solicitor, various talks from different types of solicitors on their role and experiences, looking at contracts and a task to proofreading follow up task, workshops on employability skills, personal brand and the City.
How well organised was your experience?

Well structured and clear agenda which helped me to prepare for what was to come up during the week.
To what extent did you enjoy your experience?

People around me were supportive, welcoming and friendly which made the experience more enjoyable. I also enjoyed meeting solicitors from different practice areas and participating in various workshops.
How much did your experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

This experience has strengthened my ambition to pursue a role as a solicitor in the corporate field.

What training and skills development did you learn from your experience?

Interpersonal skills - met many people which helped me to develop my confidence in a commercial environment
Attention to detail - Proofreading a contract helped me to spot errors such as grammatical errors and contradictions within the contract.
Written skills - Learning how to communicate effectively in a business setting through online communications such as emails helped me to understand how I can ensure clarity and simplicity in my emails so that the client understands.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

From the great exposure I received to solicitors at Gibson Dunn, I felt that their attitude reflected the firm. They were, welcoming, friendly and happy to take the time to answer any of my questions. I believe that I would enjoy working at Gibson Dunn purely due to the respect and attitude of the people there and believe that working in this environment would help me to progress professionally.
