Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On top of that, I got a taste of on-prem DevOps. I was a part of a team that managed a fleet of test systems in a lab in Colorado. We were responsible for configuring them using Ansible scripts, as well as imaging them, and troubleshooting any problems developers had with them.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
The responsibility of work was definitely important locally within Bristol, but it was quite hard to grasp the bigger picture in the storage organisation. There are so many teams and moving parts working all across the globe that although my responsibility felt great locally, it was hard to get any recognition beyond Bristol.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
In the entire company: very very Americanised and corporate. This is especially prevalent in the wider all-team meetings. Anything that comes from the top just feels very soulless and disingenuous.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Working and living in Bristol was a bit of struggle. It's a very expensive city and near impossible to get around if you want to live in the cheaper areas like Filton. Massively overrated unless you're well-off.
