Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The sales support role involved supporting sales forecasting, creating/updating reports, research and prospecting. On a day-to-day basis, I used Excel, PowerBI dashboards and Salesforce frequently in my daily tasks.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

High level of responsibility with the opportunity to take on projects outside of my intern role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I developed my existing skills of using Excel, communication and professionalism, as well as developing a lot of new skills. These included developing sales skills (e.g., how to run a customer meeting), organising events and sales campaigns, and developing/tracking sales incentives.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Overall, I received a high level of support from managers. I also had a network of mentors who I was able to get support from if needed which was very useful (some were assigned mentors as part of the intern program, some were unofficial).

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was great - they were very focused on inclusivity, wellness and having a good work/life balance. They held a lot of different events throughout the year to celebrate different things or to bring teams together which I really liked.
The general atmosphere in my office was very fun - it was a young office so it quite sociable and I enjoyed working there.

What advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Research the company and try to understand what HPE does/stands for, so you can discuss and show this knowledge in interviews/assessment centres.
See if you can find out any recent news about the company to show your interest.
You should have some interest in technology, but it's not essential - you definitely don't need to fully understand it to do a role like mine but having an interest definitely helps.
