Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mott MacDonald?
very highly enjoyable, a company which values progression and helping young starters get great experience and lead into chartership status. They value hybrid working where i go onto site 2-3 days a week to gain experience not just in design but also in the construction aspect.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
i have completed many facets of civil engineering from duct and drawpit designs to hydraulic calculations as well as structural calculations of slab designs and geotechnical evaluations. On top of this i have been given experience in the health and safety aspects such as qes workbooks.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

mmb have a great emphasis on work life balance and encourage taking breaks and not working overtime.

great inclusive feeling and welcoming culture within the company and policies on remote working is to aim for everyone to interact in the office apart from extenuating circumstances which may make working from home a better option.

i think as a graduate civil engineer to gain experinece in a design office and on site during concept phase and construction, mmb is the best place to get chartered quickly and gain valuable experience.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
i would give the advice to say employers look for people who they want to work with, not just someone with a number on a degree. So my advice would be to be yourself and be a good people person.
