Please give an overview of what your experience involved:

Everyday involved lots of sessions with employees at the firm, hearing of their pathways into law as well as what their job entails. Furthermore, we took part in workshops with employees of various levels at the firm such as Partners, Associates and trainees. Through the workshops we were involved in how to improve and draft a legal document and also taking part in a case study involving work place surveillance. Throughout the programme each day was incredibly thought out with insightful and well managed.
How well organised was your experience?

On the first day we were given a timetable for the week, it included the sessions that would take place at certain times while also giving the names of employees which we would be spending time with. Additionally, the recruitment team helped to keep the programme on track while also contributing to the sessions which made it a really enjoyable experience.
To what extent did you enjoy your experience?

It was a extremely insightful experience, getting to know other attendees and employees at Gibson Dunn made it a supportive and inclusive experience. Being able to ask questions and spend time with people of various backgrounds to myself made it a very worthwhile programme to be apart of.
How much did your experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

It solidified that law is something that I really want to pursue in the future, being able to shadow an employee at Gibson Dunn while seeing how a successful international firm operates has made it certain that law is a profession that | wish to be apart of.

What training and skills development did you learn from your experience?

I learnt practical skills from reviewing cases and correcting drafts of agreements. I also improved my communication skills and commercial awareness through being apart of the programme.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I was able to see first hand the inclusive nature of Gibson Dunn and how friendly and passionate everyone at the firm is. Its culture centres around hard work and inclusivity. Being able to see how employees interact with each other and with myself have really allowed me to enjoy being apart of the community at Gibson Dunn
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

We has many opportunities to meet and network with employees. On the first day of the programme we had the chance to network with trainees and associates over lunch. It was an insightful experience hearing about what each employees job entailed while also hearing about their pathway into law. We had the chance to hear from multiple employees each day through Q&A sessions which were extremely insightful and gave me the chance to network and meet employees.

The firms work culture and relationship with employees is great to be apart of and through the experience I was able to improve upon my confidence and commercial awareness. The programme included various types of sessions which made each day really exciting and enjoyable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP?
Ask lots of questions and make sure to not only talk to the employees but the other attendees as well!
