Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Basically, it started with DNA extraction of some plants and other commercial spice samples where we were responsible for the testing of those samples to check the allergen (peanut) traces are present or not. Along with this basic laboratory work such as keeping the lab and working area tidy, stock check ups as well as keeping the records of sample inventory upto date.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, as during my placement year, i believe my supervisor believed in me and it wasn't like we are working always under supervision as there was a time when we were supposed to follow her instructions and sometimes for quick responses we had to take decisions by ourselves. Thus, this gave me a chance to built my skills like teamwork, communication, organisation, adaptability and many more.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
During my placement year, i met the people in my team for the first time but i think they're now my friends for life and i don't think so i would be able to enjoy my placement year without them!
