Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Face to face customer service whilst working in a team of 9 to provide job application support and guidance such as CV, cover letters, mock interviews and more. We are also in charge of promoting several upcoming Career events across DMU and trained to set up the VR headsets for interview preparations.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given responsibility during my Frontrunner scheme. From updating the admin system when customers visit to looking after our office room and checking in on junior members of the team (assist them if needed)

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
On top of improving my communication and teamwork, I've learnt how to influence others in a positivity manner to their advantage and direct them to the appropriate direction for goal succession based on their enquiries.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I've received a lot of support and guidance when there were situations I didn't know the solutions fully or when there is a new task that I would require some clarification. It was always easy to approach a member of staff for help.

Wide diversity and ethnicity acknowledgement. Everyone is very friendly, understanding and willing to learn more to better understand.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my frontrunner scheme. Got to meet a lot of unique people, help understand the industry better and challenge myself with my current skills.

What advice would you give to others applying to De Montfort University
Make the most of it. DMU has a lot to offer and we are only there for 3-4 years. Don't waste time, talk to them, find out what you want to gain in your course and profession, any future plans or goals you wis to accomplish. Speak to them and you will not be disappointed.
