Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?
So far, my experience at JLR has been fantastic. I have been able to, not only get involved with, but also lead projects that have direct impact on the company. JLR has allowed me to move around to see different parts of the company from redesigning door casings to test driving our vehicles to tune the stability and driveline parameters.
The company truly values its employees and every effort is made for the graduate programme to be enjoyable and a great learning experience.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I am currently researching different methods to assemble doors in a more efficient way. Part of this involves redesigning components.
While redesigning, we have been looking at new materials to use but need to make sure they do not impact the customer's experience, perception and contact with the car. This also involves testing the car in different temperatures and at different speeds to assess any wind noise impact.
In another role I was working on improving the power-assisted steering feel and the overall 'driveability' of the vehicles. Ensuring that they are safe and stable at all speeds and offer the right driving experience.
I enjoy getting to see ideas floated and developed into projects. It is great getting to carry out these projects to improve the vehicles and to see your work out in the real world.
I also enjoy the tangible projects we have that have real world impact - for example, improving the roll stability control in vehicles to prevent cars from rolling over.
