Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?
It was a great experience. I truly enjoyed the two years I was on the grad scheme as it helped me see different areas of the business at a time when I was still unsure as to what I wanted to do with my career. It helped me explore opportunities and gain varied experiences.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My experience was highly varied. I started in a research and development team for 6 months, where I was given the opportunity to work on a project of my own, along with planning, budgeting and targets to meet. After this, I joined a support team dedicated to help out the build of prototype vehicles. I then had a number of smaller experiences, mainly shadowing other teams for a couples of weeks or months at a time. Finally, I ended up in a software integration team, which is currently what I do.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I felt like I was really adding value, not just side lined. I would say though, you get as much as you give. If you don't ask you don't get, which I think is reasonable and fair.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
I had a healthcare package which I found very useful. It gives you access to a private GP!
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
It really helped me get used to the corporate working life without being overwhelming.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I had constant opportunities, both mandatory an optional, to further develop skills through formal training. I was given the time to do this during my work time.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Excellent.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Again, there is something for everyone. It is highly dependent on role and preference, but for me, the balance was very good.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
JLR is a very inclusive place. I never felt left out or not included because of my background or anything like that. People are extremely understanding, and I truly tell people that JLR is a great place to work because of this.
How would you rate JLR initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
To be completely honest, I'm only giving this 4 stars because I feel like JLR does too much in this space. It depends how you see it.
How would you rate JLR CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
JLR offers every employee 16 hours of paid volunteering and really pushes for people to undertake environmental activities, promote sustainability and encourage community building. Other than this, the company also carries out work to become more sustainable in its operations and constantly raises awareness to its employee work force around ethical and societal challenges and how to overcome them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The work-life balance. The culture. The people. The products that you get to work on and deliver. Genuinely an exciting place to work.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
It went beyond my expectations!
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?
Be yourself, but try to utilise your strengths. Everybody is good at something, find yours!
