Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
It is a good place to work with a great culture and lots of very intelligent people who are inspiring to learn from. There is a lot of learning and it can definitely be challenging, but I really enjoy the variety of interesting projects and that the work being done is cutting edge and really matters.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As an engineer you will be supporting the technical delivery of projects, which is very specific to the project and department. It could be calculations, simulations or research for example. You will generally be originating, with someone more senior verifying/checking. Frazer-Nash is a consultancy so all the work is project-based, because of that it is very difficult to generalise the role into 'a typical day' or similar.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
A lot. I am contributing to the delivery of client projects every day and that contribution is valued by team members
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
Renumeration is good and definitely average/above-average
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
A lot of trust is given to graduates and so you get the chance to develop a lot of experiences not often offered to early careers, that will be valuable at later career stages (e.g. client interaction, PM responsibility, large task coordination).
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
Not much formal training is done/offered for technical skills. There is very much an expectation of 'on the job' informal training with occasional formal training. This works for the type of business this is, but can be quite intense.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Not needed to use it much. I never got a buddy or mentor, but my manager is good at supporting if needed.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Given it is a consultancy it is not a surprise there are crunch periods where staying late may be expected, but those are rare and in general there is a very good separation between work and personal life. Nobody would ever contact you when out of office for example.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture is good. Hybrid working policy is generally very flexible, but you may be expected to be in as much as a project requires if necessary. People seem happy overall and the general atmosphere is friendly and positive
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
Not had a large amount of experience, but I have not been witness to any negative behaviour. There are often events around the offices promoting diversity and greater awareness.
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
Not had enough exposure to give a fair judgement, there are often charity donation schemes which the company matches

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Frazer-Nash Consultancy to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The work is rewarding, the culture is good, and it is an exciting place to be
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
I did a placement so my recruitment process was slightly different. This was not an issue for me, but from speaking to others I think the amount the role matches its description varies a bit between teams.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
For applications, they are looking for people who really care about the subject, not who know everything. Be curious and don't be afraid to ask for clarifications and support if you don't understand the question.
