Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility during my placement. From early on, I was trusted to take ownership of specific audit tasks such as testing controls, preparing working papers, and contributing to client reports. I also had the opportunity to communicate directly with clients to gather information and clarify queries, which helped me build my confidence and professional skills. One of the highlights of my placement was getting the chance to speak with the CEO and senior management of a client organisation, which gave me valuable insight into how audit findings influence strategic decision-making. I enjoyed my placement to some extent, but not as much as I had hoped. While it was a valuable learning experience and I appreciated the opportunity to develop new skills and gain insight into internal audit, some aspects of the work were quite repetitive, and it took a while to feel fully integrated into the team. That said, I did enjoy the sense of responsibility I was given and the chance to see how audit work contributes to real business decisions.
