Industrial Ops: Procurement Graduate Review

My experience has been very positive. There are so many opportunities for grads to learn about the business, have real responsibility and to learn from experienced members of staff. It is a very enjoyable place to work: great office space, social and decent flexibility to work around commitments outside of work.

I have completed 3 placements: 2 in procurement and 1 in a strategy area. My main responsibilities include project management, managing relationships with suppliers, sourcing suppliers for new projects, analysing costs and looking for cost down opportunities, and conducting market research . I have been on 4 trips to supplier factories in Europe - this has been my favourite part of the job so far.

I have real responsibility and work with many stakeholders in my team and across the business. This means the work I do matters and is valued by others.

I'm paid well in my opinion. JLR also gives us leadership training, Six Sigma courses and others for free. The pension contributions are very generous. And all members of staff get £200 per year to spend on extra curricular activities, as well discounts in high street shops.

I'm learning how a big, successful business works, and I'm learning so much from colleagues.

Everyone is willing to explain things and the hierarchy is flat whereby I can feel I can seek advice from very senior collegues

JLR is a great place to work, especially for someone at the start of their career. Opportunities are endless and it really feels like a place to grow and be successful. The atmosphere is collaborative and uplifting, and you are given good flexibility to have a good work-life balance. The cars are cool and the impact on the world is tangible which gives meaning and purpose to the job.

The job advert and interviews reflected well what the job has been like. The interviews were however with an outsourced company who weren't very knowledgeable about the role or company.
