Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I was previously with the Design, Technical and Innovation team for my first 2 years, which was very useful in strengthening my IT skills, mostly relating to Revit, AutoCAD and InDesign (for creating and editing company documents). It also allowed me to strengthen my personal learning as I was working with multiple disciplines at the time, including M&E, Design, Technical and Sustainability. At the start of 2025, I moved to the Project Management team and have been learning how to navigate appointment documents for consultants, and assisting my line manager with raising purchase orders and any business to do with site specific issues.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I think the programme is very useful as I have been able to learn both within the industry, surrounded by professionals of the business, and in a learning environment at university. The workplace at Clarion is very supportive, with managers helping me with university work whenever i did struggle, and the constant knowledge gained from being in meetings and workload is great in pushing me further.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

A lot of IT skills have been developed, such as Revit, AutoCAD, etc. especially when editing plans, sections or 3D models.
I would also say my social skills have improved as I am able to work with a team, and communicate with consultants on various jobs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is quite well structured. We have regular meetings with the apprenticeship team so they can assist us wherever we need it.
We are included within a group chat where the apprenticeship team have direct contact with myself and other apprentices.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The members of my team are always ready to lend a hand when I need it, be it advice or assistance with my workload.
The apprenticeship team are also very useful, as I have 1 to 1s with dedicated support who listen to any concerns that I may have.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We were set up on a few job seeking applications, but they are also very keen on leading us on a path of finding a career which is right for us.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification allows me to help in the realm of design, so with that knowledge I am able to look at drawings and models from consultants and help spot any issues that may arise during the design phase.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The apprenticeship set us Apprenticeship Unwrapped events twice a year, which helps us to network with each other, learning about roles within Clarion, as well as communicating with other apprentices in the business.

Would you recommend Clarion Housing Group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Clarion are very supportive, with team members assisting when you may get stuck. I have also been able to learn quite a bit at Clarion, so it is a good environment to develop in.
