Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Computacenter?
Really positive. The Graduate Scheme took us around multiple rotations over 12 months so we could gain a deep understanding of the business and different departments that make up the organisation. Everyone at Computacenter is bought into the Associate Programme meaning we were never short of people who wants to help us, allow us to Shadow them, spend time with us working on our pitching skills, presentation skills or broader understanding of the business. The culture is work hard, play hard so there were also lots of fun activities to make us feel part of a positive working culture. I also really liked that the final 6 months of the 18 months programme were designed to give us the opportunity to "do the job" without the pressure of targets or numbers etc.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
A lot of the work was based on shadowing various different teams from Sales, to Warehouse, to Project Management. We would shadow and learn from those teams about their roles, responsibilities and then later present back on what we had found with regards to how those departments work to delight our customers. As a side, I also worked to help members of my team with admin tasks, relating to billing or building Statements of Work that helped me gain a wider appreciation for the role, and contribute to the team alongside my rotational learning.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Excellent. We had dedicated "Team Time" weeks in which we could work with members of the team to complete tasks that were both meaningful but manageable for my level. I appreciated these opportunities to contribute in a "safe" way knowing that if I made a mistake it would not be the end of the world, rather I could learn from it, so when I landed in role myself I could have an immediate impact.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Very fair considering we spend 18 months being "non-productive" or "non-income-generating" employees and 18 months was dedicated to our learning and development.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Very well - I am now in my role and often receive comments that I am "outperforming what people would have expected!". I am very pleased with how the rotation prepared me to understand the workings of Computacenter and positively contribute in full-time work.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Very highly - alongside our rotations we completed an apprenticeship which taught me a lot about sales methodologies. I learnt about presentation styles, negotiation skills, customer interactions through lots of role play which was hugely beneficial.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
We had a dedicated Buddy (someone who had completed the programme the year before), coach (someone experienced within our team) and mentor (someone senior in the business) to support us. I had multiple touchpoints per week with my buddy, a weekly call with my coach and a monthly call with my mentor. All hugely beneficial. My Line Managers were also fantastic and very well engaged in giving us feedback and tasks to complete. HR were on the journey with us, attending every presentation and providing feedback as well as the Head of the UK Sales Team which was amazing.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Really good - very rarely working any longer than contracted hours and as previously mentioned, plenty of fun activities for bonding and fun.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Really positive. The culture is very welcoming generally but especially to Associates on the programme as lots of people have done it before including the MD for European Sales. Most of our sessions were in-person during the scheme which was great but generally there is a hybrid working policy. The Values are of supporting eachother, and most of all supporting customers which is fantastic.
How would you rate Computacenter initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Lots of events on for Pride, Black History, South Asian Heritage month etc. A working group for Women in Sales. Really great opportunities to get involved in these causes too. Lots of charity work and opportunities as well.
How would you rate Computacenter CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Great - the warehouse is powered by Solar Panels, we have a recycling centre for technology waste. We are encouraged to be economical with regards to water bottles etc. There are opportunities to volunteer with young people, beach clean ups, food banks, building local gardens etc. There is always something going on to support the world we live in.
