Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Forvis Mazars?
My experience at Forvis Mazars has been incredibly positive. One of the standout aspects is how much the firm values inclusivity and continuous learning. There’s a clear study pathway tailored to each role, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to grow and develop professionally. Whether you're just starting out or looking to advance, there are structured options and support available.
Beyond professional development, Forvis Mazars also fosters a strong sense of community. There are a variety of clubs and societies you can join based on your interests, and if you don’t find one that fits, it’s really easy to start your own. This openness makes it easy to connect with colleagues across the business and feel a real sense of belonging.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
In my role, one of the main responsibilities was conducting IT General Controls (ITGC) testing. This involved assessing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls around areas such as access management, change management, and IT operations.
What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to apply my own professional scepticism when evaluating the risk and effectiveness of each control. It was rewarding to critically assess the evidence, challenge assumptions where necessary, and come to a well-reasoned judgment. It really helped me develop a deeper understanding of risk and control frameworks, while also strengthening my analytical thinking.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I’ve felt genuinely valued in my role, especially through the way my seniors engaged with my work. When conducting ITGC testing, I was encouraged to share my conclusions, and they always took the time to listen to how I felt about the effectiveness and risk associated with each control. It was clear that my input was considered seriously, which made me feel like a meaningful contributor to the team.
What also stood out was how approachable and supportive the team was. My seniors were always available to answer any questions I had, no matter how small. That open communication really helped build my confidence and made the experience collaborative and rewarding.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I’ve found the compensation package to be fair and supportive, especially considering the early stages of my career. One benefit that really stood out was the student loan, which was incredibly helpful when I made the big move to London. As London is an expensive city to live in, having that financial support made a real difference and helped ease the transition.
Beyond that, the overall package reflects the value of the work we do, and the additional perks and benefits show that the firm genuinely cares about employee wellbeing and development.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I feel the role is preparing me really well for my future career. One of the key strengths is the access to professional development opportunities, especially the support for certifications. These not only build technical knowledge but also add real value to my CV and long-term career prospects.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I’d rate it very highly. There’s a great balance between formal training and learning on the job. My team holds monthly Q&A sessions, which are a great opportunity to ask questions, share knowledge, and learn from each other’s experiences. We also have more intensive training sessions during the quieter periods, which allow us to really focus on developing both technical and soft skills without the pressure of deadlines.
On a day-to-day basis, I’ve been able to build on existing skills while also learning new ones—especially around ITGC testing, risk assessment, and professional judgement. The combination of structured learning and practical experience has been really effective in helping me grow.
