Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
I have really enjoyed my experience at Natwest. It was a lot less daunting than I expected joining a bank, as everyone is friendly and happy to help and answer questions. The work life balance is great and there's a big learning culture which has helped me develop a lot across the grad scheme and push myself out of my comfort zone. My confidence has grown a lot through NW.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Depends on which placement you get. In the Digital Transformation grad scheme, there are a range of placements from Fraud to Everyday Banking to Risk & Control to the Mobile App team. There are also different roles within this from Product Owner, Business Analyst, Project Analyst etc.
I enjoyed the variety of the grad scheme as I came into the bank with no idea which career I wanted.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
It depends on which placement you get but generally you are able to contribute well whilst learning on the job.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Excellent
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
100% - very future proof and forward thinking.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Depends again on the placement but generally lots of support - from mentors, to buddies, a graduate manager for the two years as well as a placement manager each 6 months, previous grads, and the Early Talent team.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Not expected to work past contracted hours and plenty of social opportunities within the grad scheme no matter what you're into.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Very welcoming, supportive culture, helpful and friendly generally. On the grad scheme, I personally was able to work from home or come into the office whenever I wanted but this depends on your team. I think they're trying to get people to come in more now - like once a week generally.
How would you rate NatWest Group initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Lots of employee led networks, including Gender Network, Aspire Network (neurodivergence and disabilities), Rainbow Network (LGBTQ+), Multicultural Network.
How would you rate NatWest Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
3 paid volunteering days a year encouraged where you can do whatever you please - from volunteering at a charity shop, helping out at your local park, or hosting a charity bake sale. I was also part of the CSR graduate council to help encourage colleagues to help out in their communities and keep the opportunities exciting and relevant.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I've had a great experience.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to NatWest Group?
You don't have to have a background in Business/Finance, it can be anything. They're more looking for transferable skills and people that would fit into the culture.
