Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
An amazing experience so far - I have learnt loads, got experience in a range of roles and met amazing people to build my network. The key skills I have learnt are to be pro-active, active listen and take time and care in my work! The work you do is essential to the teams in supporting them and also finding new ways to make processes more efficient!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I have currently completed 3 placements:
1) Natwest Accelerator = running events and supporting entrepreneurs in scaling and building their businesses.
2) Lombard - Coverage = the asset finance side of the NWG - supporting with portfolios as well as looking at how to generate new business leads and use past data to find new leads.
3) UKSF = Currently working in Structured Finance, looking at larger corporate deals and supporting the bank with more complex deals!
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I have been able to contribute to targets and provide legacy pieces that I can own and say proudly that I worked on! Further - all teams I have worked in have made me feel welcome and valued my contributions hence the more proactive you are the better!
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I love our dental cover and other work perks such as our shopping card and health perks - the pay is strong and I am able to enjoy my wider lifestyle! You will always want higher pay but its important to consider other factors such as your time & wider hobbies and whether you are living at home or alone etc.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
The role(s) have prepared me very well for my future career - it has allowed me to explore different parts of the bank and understand where I want to eventually roll off to work in a permanent role!
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Formal training wise - you have the opportunity to do further qualifications which support your future career and banking profession. In terms of day-to-day - you learn about different software packages, a lot on AI recently and developing soft skills as well as technical skills!

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
You receive loads of support from Early Talent through to your Grad Manager who is with you for 2 years, a Buddy who supports you and becomes a friend essentially within the company and your placement managers who again support your day-to-day needs.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
My work-life balance is excellent - you are very flexible with timings with your manager but you must ensure you get your work done and have a good work ethic which may mean working later sometimes and coming in earlier!
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Overall - the NW culture is great and welcoming/ The core values, purpose are understood from Day 1 during induction and these are replicated and differentiated depending on teams and their targets. The working atmosphere in offices are also top tier!
How would you rate NatWest Group initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
NW initiatives for DE&I are top notch - we have a designated Employee-Led Network (ELN) which focuses on DE&I and other values.
How would you rate NatWest Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
Again - CSR initiatives are very good - we have a Sustainability network which focuses on events per region to help with the environment and all staff must take 3 days for volunteering to give back to the community - I have delivered a CV workshop / helped at a foodbank and looking to do volunteer tutoring!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
ITs a great place to work, develop your skills and build your network. You can build up your skill base and competencies which sets you up nicely for the future.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
100% - At first there is a sense of anonymity and unknowingness but after 2-3 weeks you land on your fit and you hit the ground running - sometimes you have to trust the process and run once you can walk!
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Specific tips or advice would be to read the case study well for the A/C and use STAR for your 1-on-1 interviews according to NW behaviours to show where you have done these previously to show why your a great candidate!
