Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
In the Applied Human Sciences team I have really enjoyed the experience so far. I've had the opportunity to be a part of projects in multiple different industries and work with a supportive team.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I have been in one team during the scheme, the Applied Human Sciences team. My work consists of supporting technical aspects of projects such as desk and field research and report writing, project management responsibilities, bid writing and general administration. I've enjoyed being involved in early stages of bid writing where you ideate how you'd be able to solve a clients problem with your teams skillset.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
You are included very early on in decision making and have access to projects so you can begin developing skills. However, you are not left alone and are supported throughout this.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
FNC/KBR has a good benefits package. I have used gymflex which gives me and my partner access to discounted gym memberships. I think a more transparent/better communication on when we should expect salary increases as an early professional would be beneficial.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Helping me a lot as I am working across multiple different industries (technology, defence, infrastructure, energy) I am building skills and knowledge to be able to move into lots of different sectors.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
I am developing more skills on my day to day role rather than formal training. My role in applied human sciences (behavioural science and humanfactors) doesn't have a large array of in person training or certificates compared to engineering or PM roles. This offering could be better, but I am gaining lots of knowledge on the job.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
I feel comfortable to go to anyone in my team and the company for help. We have informal mentor/buddy system however we naturally identify those we go to for help. The hierarchy in the business doesn't stop you from contacting anyone (apart from SLT).
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Good balance. I am a netball coach outside of work and I regularly have to extend some lunches by an hour or so and this has been okayed by my line manager.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Welcoming environment. Supportive of employee needs/requirements.
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
Employees at FNC are inclusive and welcoming. However, due to recent changes in the US and being owned by KBR, FNC had to change all EDI groups into one called All In. This is a shame as it was a very big part of the company and we are still inclusive but this definitely changed the feel.
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
We are part of Stem Hub and regularly help out at schools/unis. Signed up fon Sustainable Company Goals .

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Frazer-Nash Consultancy to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great company to work for.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
I think consultancy as a whole is quite confusing and I didn't fully understand it until I joined the company.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
Be yourself. The company knows that you are likley coming straight from university so they know the knowledge you have and don't expect you to be clued up on everything. So showing what you have done outside of university (i.e. extracurriculars) and your personality is the best thing for you to do.
