Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at DHL?
DHL is a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone is given the opportunity to excel. I was given hands on management experience from the beginning which really helped me to develop as a person and as a manager. I also received a lot of support when it came to my development and the training and experiences required to help me reach my goals.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Managing teams, leading continuous improvements projects, day to day progress meetings, customer meetings, performance management, monitoring and reporting, target setting and meeting targets on a daily basis, managing conflicts, problem solving.
I worked on 2 start ups during my graduate scheme and on 1 of them I was able to build a department from the ground up, implementing new processes in line with customer requirements and was able to have the day to day contact with the customer, building relationships and working together to reach a common goal.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Receiving discounts for days out and for various shops which helps with my children and free will creation which is also helpful.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Some line managers that I had were really helpful with my development and really encouraged me to succeed and push myself. Some managers I worked with, the way they lead people was outdated but you tend to find that there will always be some people that are still stuck in their ways and struggling to blend with the culture the company aspires for.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
When working in operations, I found it difficult to have that work life balance whereas now working in a function, I have an excellent work life balance.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
The majority of people you come across within the company are very inclusive and welcoming, there is still room for improvement but as mentioned before, there are still some people with very outdated views working for the business but they are the minority.
How would you rate DHL initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
There is a team called the 'Ability Alliance' which is a community that celebrates people who are neurodiverse and they have regular meetings to raise awareness and so that everyone can support each other with any struggles they may be facing.
How would you rate DHL CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
There are lots of programs to support the community and environment such as mentoring children in schools, supporting residential trips, litter picking either around site or at the beach or providing career advice in schools.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DHL to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As a company, DHL isn't just stating that they do wonderful things to make the company look good, DHL is really/actively trying to do better everyday and the employees are cared for. As an ever changing business, it can be difficult but they will always try to put their employees at the forefront of what they do and the decisions that they make.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to DHL?
DHL loves positivity and passion. When interviewing, always make sure you true self shines through as they see the knowledge as something they can teach but they can't teach personality. Also, when applying, ensure you know exactly what you're applying for so that it doesn't disappoint when you have onboarded.
