Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?

Exciting, always have so much to get involved in.
Love being near the cars and getting to drive around luxury vehicles.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

I've done software engineering work for a couple of teams.
It's a great opportunity for you to get your hands on a bunch of projects and see the changes happen on the real cars.

I would like a career in the automotive industry because I love cars and I get to use my software engineering degree for it too.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

There are a lot of training modules to complete with JLR, alongside those modules there is also a skills development course that you undertake in your first year.
In second year there are other opportunities regarding innovation which will get you working on a big project with other graduates.

How is the support you receive?

The buddy system works very well when you're starting out - they help you with all of the company related questions you may have. (Processes / payslips / forms)
The mentor system works very well when you start working with a team and they will help you with your technical work. (Tasks / Documentation / Delivering work)

How is your work-life balance?

Hybrid working is fantastic for a work-life balance. I can finish work and immediately head over to the gym or spend time with the people I love.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

There are so many social events, it will remind you of university and all of it's societies.
You can join a sports team, games team, ski trips, nights out, and a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Plenty of events and initiatives celebrating culture. Friendly atmosphere when in the office.

Went above and beyond what I was hoping for. I was expecting a regular job but the people you meet and the things you learn make your realise you want a career with JLR.
