Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Forvis Mazars?
My experience at Forvis Mazars has been both enriching and professionally rewarding. The firm fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment where learning and development are strongly encouraged. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside knowledgeable colleagues and contribute to meaningful projects that have enhanced my technical and analytical skills. The leadership is approachable and supportive, and there’s a clear emphasis on maintaining high standards of integrity and client service. Overall, it’s been a positive experience that has contributed significantly to my growth in the IT audit space.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My experience at Forvis Mazars has been highly positive and professionally fulfilling. As part of the IT audit team, I’ve been actively involved in key areas such as testing IT General Controls (ITGCs), performing Information Provided by Entity (IPE) testing, and ensuring thorough and accurate documentation throughout the audit lifecycle. I’ve also taken an active role in walkthroughs with clients, which has helped me better understand their systems and control environments while building strong communication and analytical skills.
The firm provides a supportive and collaborative environment, where continuous learning is encouraged and valued. Working alongside experienced professionals has allowed me to deepen my technical knowledge and contribute meaningfully to engagements. Overall, it’s been a great platform for developing both my audit capabilities and broader professional competencies.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My role provides a strong platform to contribute meaningfully, particularly through responsibilities such as ITGC testing, IPE validation, and participating in walkthroughs with clients. These tasks are critical to the overall audit process, and being trusted with them has helped me feel like a valued member of the team. I’m encouraged to take ownership of my work, ask questions, and share insights, which fosters a sense of inclusion and professional growth.
Additionally, the team culture at Forvis Mazars is collaborative and supportive. Feedback is constructive, and my contributions are acknowledged, which reinforces that my work is making a difference. This environment has helped me build confidence in my abilities and feel genuinely appreciated for the role I play in delivering high-quality audits
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
The base salary offered is competitive and aligns well with the London market average for similar roles in IT audit, which reflects a fair recognition of the technical responsibilities and workload involved. The benefits package also provides a good level of support in terms of wellbeing and work-life balance.
However, the bonus scheme could be more transparent and inclusive. Performance-based bonuses tend to be awarded to a very limited number of individuals, which can be discouraging in larger teams where many contribute meaningfully. The criteria for receiving a bonus aren’t always clear, and the process can feel somewhat exclusive, making it difficult for team members to feel fully recognised for their efforts beyond base pay.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
3/5
The role is providing a solid foundation for my future career, particularly in developing core IT audit skills such as ITGC testing, IPE validation, documentation, and client walkthroughs. These experiences have helped me build technical knowledge and gain exposure to different systems and control environments, which are valuable for long-term growth in the audit or broader risk and compliance space.
That said, there is room for improvement in terms of structured development and progression opportunities within IT audit specifically. While I’ve learned a lot on the job, clearer guidance on career pathways, more consistent feedback, and greater access to stretch assignments would help me feel more confident that the role is actively preparing me for the next step in my career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
Most of my skill development has come through hands-on experience in my day-to-day role. Working on real audit engagements has helped me build practical knowledge and confidence in my work.
In contrast, I’ve found the formal training sessions less impactful. While they cover useful content, I often struggle to retain the material once the session ends, and there’s limited follow-up or reinforcement to help embed the learning. More interactive or applied training formats could make a big difference in helping the content stick and feel more relevant to the work we do.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
2/5
The support I receive in my role has been somewhat limited. While there are people I can reach out to when needed, proactive guidance and regular check-ins are lacking. At times, it feels like you're expected to figure things out on your own, which can be challenging, especially when working on unfamiliar tasks or during busy periods.
More structured support, clearer expectations, and accessible mentorship would go a long way in helping team members feel more confident and better equipped to succeed in their roles.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
I would rate the work-life balance as excellent. The team is very understanding and flexible, which makes it easier to manage workload alongside personal commitments. There’s a strong culture of trust and respect when it comes to time management, and I’ve never felt pressured to consistently work beyond standard hours. This balance has had a positive impact on both my wellbeing and productivity.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
I would rate the culture as excellent. Everyone is genuinely friendly, approachable, and supportive when called upon. There’s a strong sense of teamwork, and people are always willing to help each other out, even during busy periods. It creates a positive and respectful working environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and collaborating with others.
How would you rate Forvis Mazars initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
I would rate the EDIA initiatives very highly. There’s always availability and visibility around events, resources, and discussions related to equality, diversity, and inclusion. The firm makes a clear effort to create an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds feel welcome and respected. It’s encouraging to see ongoing conversations and opportunities to get involved, which shows that EDIA is treated as a priority rather than a checkbox.
How would you rate Forvis Mazars CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5
I would rate the CSR initiatives as good overall. The firm offers two volunteering days per year, which is a great way to encourage community involvement and give back. However, beyond that, there’s limited visibility or engagement with broader CSR activities. With more structured opportunities or awareness around ongoing initiatives, the impact and participation could be even stronger.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Forvis Mazars to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would recommend this job to a friend. Despite some challenges, the role offers valuable experience, a supportive team culture, and excellent work-life balance. It’s a great opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in their career.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
2/5
Unfortunately, the role didn’t match my original expectations. I initially applied for a position in Management Consulting, but was later informed that all spaces had been filled. I was then asked to rank four alternative roles, and ultimately placed in my fourth choice. While I’ve made the most of the opportunity and gained valuable experience, the process felt more like a redirection than a match, and it didn’t align with what I had envisioned when I first applied.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
Make sure you research the company thoroughly and understand its values, service lines, and structure. During the application process, be prepared with strong examples for competency and skill-based questions. Also, be clear about your role preferences early on, as there may be limited availability in certain departments, and you could be asked to rank alternatives.
