Junior Data Manager Review

As an Undergraduate Junior Clinical Data Manager in the Oncology department within the Clinical Data Sciences Team, my role is a vital part of the clinical trial process. You help ensure that the data collected during trials is accurate, organised, and ready for analysis, which is essential for developing new medicines.
Your work directly supports scientists and researchers by maintaining the integrity of clinical data, enabling them to trust the results and make informed decisions about future treatments.

So far, I’ve had loads of responsibility, which has been great for learning early on. I’ve spoken to past placement students too, and they said the same, you’re trusted to take on what you’re ready for, and there’s plenty of support if you want to push yourself.

I’ve learnt loads of new skills already, especially around clinical data systems and tools like Inform and Excel. I’ve also developed my communication and organisation skills through real tasks and team interactions.

I’ve had loads of support throughout my placement so far. From day one, the team’s been really approachable and always happy to answer questions or guide me through tasks.

The culture is really dynamic, everyone’s always learning, sharing ideas and striving to do better. It’s a supportive environment where you’re encouraged to grow and get involved.

So far, it’s been great, I’ve really enjoyed it and I’m excited for what’s still to come!
