Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Samsung Electronics?
I enjoyed a brilliant time on the graduate scheme at Samsung which resulted in securing a job at the end of the scheme. Samsung is an incredibly rewarding place to work, where employees feel a strong sense in the pride in the company. I was made to feel welcome from my first day and was provided with all the support and tools to advance both my skills and career.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My scheme was purely in sales and I remained on the same accounts for the whole two years. As expected my responsibilities increased gradually but on the whole they included:
- Stock management
- Stakeholder management (internal/external)
- Forecasting
- New product set ups
- Weekly external meetings
- Promotional Planning
- Orders/Bookings
- Revenue focus
- Other general account management tasks
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
All roles in Samsung as part of the Emerging Talent program give you a great opportunity to contribute to the business. I was particularly fortunate in my role that I was given even further responsibility due to paternity leave / other various internal movements. For the final 7 months of my scheme I was running my own account. However, the support was still in place in case I ever needed it.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Samsung offer an extremely competitive salary/benefits package.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I'm now doing a role where I'm applying the skills/learnings from the scheme and feel positive about my future job prospects.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
You have a large number of training sessions where you learn skills which you can directly apply to your role. These are also fun/interactive days which can be a nice break from your role.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
There is a large pool of sources for support within Samsung. You have a designated HR partner for each area who can help with any concerns plus your own team & the emerging talent team. A buddy is also assigned to you at the start, this normally someone in and around your team.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
As with any job there is busy times and less busy times. On balance though I would say you have a fairly comfortable work-life balance. My manager was always very accommodating to any requests and never insisted we worked late etc.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
There is always something go on in the office and there is certainly an effort from the people team to promote strong culture/values within Samsung. Given where the office is most people drive in so there isn't a massive culture of going out after work etc.
How would you rate Samsung Electronics initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate Samsung Electronics CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Samsung Electronics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have had an incredible time at Samsung and that's down to the investment and trust Samsung puts into their graduates. You will feel valued and trusted with demanding tasks but that will only add to your future career prospects. I can honestly say I feel pride when telling people I work for Samsung and that should be the goal with any company you work for.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Account management role as expected.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Samsung Electronics?
- Have an understanding of Samsung's vision for the future
- Showcase why you want to work for Samsung specifically
- On a more general note just be yourself / relax at any assessment centres, it'll come out as far more authentic to any assessor
