Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities were divided between two departments: Presentation and Continuity. The Presentation department included tasks such as serving as the Channel Manager for Crime and Investigation Pan Euro, overseeing channel administration, managing template applications, addressing inquiries, and maintaining effective communication with the programmer planner. Responsible for preparing and finalising daily broadcasting schedules, ensuring alignment with Ofcom regulations, and delivering these schedules to playout across two scheduling systems.
Continuity department responsible for reviewing weekly graphic plans for all UK channels to ensure that all strategic and schedule changes were updated. Other tasks include script checking for channels such as Blaze and Crime and Investigation, reviewing recordings, and ingesting voiceovers into the system while coordinating with our partners, including the Sky team. A monthly task is preparing the make-list detailing all images and graphics required for both international and UK feeds.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes - it was my responsibility to manage and ensure my channel administration as well as delivering on my weekly deadlines in a timely fashion. I also co-led a company-wide intern project, curating pub-quiz style Q&As to be aired on Blaze, ending with a quiz which myself and the other intern designed, organised and hosted.
