Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Process engineering, I have been given multiple problems to solve with the aim of reducing errors and losses in production. This has been in the form of new tooling, technician training and process change. I have also created and designed build instructions and packaging specifications for multiple products.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
The first week was spent doing training and understanding the process, after that point I was given projects and treated like a typical engineer. I have been solely communicating to supplies and processing purchase requests.

Yes I have learnt many new skills, mainly how a production process functions and how multiple cross-functional teams communicate and work together to solve problems and increase efficiency.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was given a problem to solve or a project and then it was fully under my control to approach it as I wanted, no one was looking over my shoulder checking what i was doing which I really liked. They set up a weekly check-in session to make sure I was progressing and needed any large inputs of help, but in-between them in I ever got stuck or didn't know something I could ask anyone and they were always very open and helpful.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was very kind and made an effort to get to know me in my wider teams and the adjoining teams. The technicians on the shop floor were also very helpful answering any questions I had about the task they were performing.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Yes I definitely enjoyed my placement, It was an eye opening experience to the world of manufacturing and I hope the experience gained helps me to push for a graduate job next year.

What advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers
The advise i would give is just be chatty during the assessment process, make an effort to try and speak to every other applicant and member of staff holding the event. Make your voice heard and your personality remembered without being cocky or bolshy.
