Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As an intern, I was given complete flexibility to choose the projects I wanted to support on, particularly through networking. On a day-to-day basis, I was participating in client calls, networking to understand life at PA, and working with internal teams.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given significant responsibility, which positively exceeded my expectations. Everyone was more than willing to support interns and give them a real flavour of project delivery.

I have developed communication and relationship building skills, stakeholder management skills, learnt to take ownership of projects, and improved my quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.

I received significant support, particularly through early careers, my line manager, buddy, and the informal mentors I connected with along the way. This included both technical and project specific guidance, as well as informal/personal development.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was one of the most surprising things to me, as I didn't expect for there to be such a flat hierarchy in which such junior ranks can network with the most senior ranks. This was extremely welcoming and created such a supportive and open culture.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed it thoroughly, from contributing to client projects, internal contributions, and personal development. Having access to amazing learning tools such as LinkedIn learning and workday helped me to understand the PA approach.

What advice would you give to others applying to PA Consulting

I think it's important that you demonstrate genuine passion. You don't need to be an expert in consulting / PA's line of work, but identify what about PA/it's work really resonates with you on a value-based level - having your personality shine through goes a long way!!
