Internal Audit Summer Intern Review

The Internal Audit internship was structured around 3 rotations all with different teams. The tasks were similar but each focussing on a different area of the bank. Tasks included but were not limited to: process flow mapping, completing audit paper work, taking minutes in stakeholder meetings, testing and plenty of others, with the main goal being to assist your team in audit delivery.

From the 1st week on the desk I was given plenty of responsibility and measurable deliverables. I was allowed to partake in stakeholder meeting, complete audit testing and assist on work papers which were delivered to senior management and different business owners.

I have massively developed my professional communication skills through out the program and have learnt a lot about better team working practises. I also learnt how to complete process flows, audit testing paperwork and closure pack paper work.

Every intern is given a buddy within the business who they an go to for any help/ assistance, alongside their line manager. The early careers team is also very responsive and helpful if needed. In terms of guidance my rotations were planned out and I was assigned a managers for each rotation to give me work and lead me on tasks.

The culture is the best part of working at MUFG. There is a very friendly atmosphere and most people are happy to have a chat with you and share their experiences or help you if you need it. There is quite a flat structure and it is easy to arrange time with senior colleagues such as directors and managing directors. There is also a very reasonable work life balance.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at MUFG, I experienced plenty of variety in tasks and got to work with a lot of great colleagues. There were some rotations that I enjoyed more than others however I felt that every desk had something different to teach me, which was nice to experience. We also had an excellent intern cohort, which made the experience more enjoyable.
