This was an excellent insight day that flawlessly put together and allowed an opportunity to network, ask questions, and learn. I was particularly impressed with the timings of the session, 2 and a half hours made sure it didn’t drag out and still created enough time for everyone to take full advantage of the opportunity. The panelists and employees were friendly and detailed in their responses and I feel I gained some strong insights that will help me throughout the recruitment process.

What training and skills development did you learn from your experience?

I learnt more about the different divisions within banking including quantitative trading, corporate, and investment. I also gained a better insight into what the organisation does and what they look for in young bankers. We were also given tips from the early careers team that will help in our applications and cover letters moving forward.
Company Culture
How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learned a lot about the organisations background history and aspirations for the future. It was a brief talk at the beginning however it covered the main points regarding MUFG’s background and where they really have an impact.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Yes, throughout the session there were multiple chances to network with peers and bankers.

Why?
The insight offered a lot of valuable information within the space of just 2 and half hours. To anyone aspiring to break into to IB this event had a very high return on investment for me as it put me in front of industry professionals that were willing to help.
Having a specific event for people of Black Heritage is thoughtful and inclusive. It certainly shows the values of the organisation and I’m grateful to have been invited.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MUFG?
If invited do some research into the organisation, come with an open mind and have a few thoughtful questions prepared.
