Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Work in Adult Care front door service in the prevention team. Work with various types of customers with care and support needs wishing to access support and have eligible care needs under the Care Act 2014. Help support with drawing up assessments and care plans to meet needs and maintain their independence, (both non residential and residential settings).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, meeting lots of good fellow students and supportive staff to get me through the social work degree programme. Work colleagues are also on hand to provide professional expertise and support to get you through the learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

learnet new skills how to enage with people and develop social work tools to build better relationships. Learned about social work theories that can be applied in real life settings. Learned use of digital information and Assistive technology that can be used as low level preventative support to maintain independance.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

very well organised - learning is split into individual learning units, and you are assigned a university skills coach to help you progress and mentor you through any issues. You get a timetable at the start of each semester so you can plan between study and work times.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The employer is very supportive. You get study days to attend university for learning, and they understand that you are a learning student, so factor in the amount of case work you can handle. You also get allocated a mentor who hold regular supervision to talk through any problems.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Manchester Metropolitan University individual lecturers, tutors, and individual skills coaches provide extensive support, helping you with any questions/issues/problems you may have during the programme. Additional skills tutors can also help with academic writing and presentations.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The learning is very positive and provides the necessary updated legal, legislative, theory-based, current issues, and case study information that you can relate to real-life working scenarios in your daily work. From this learning, you have better outcomes for the people you are trying to help.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The University is very good at keeping you up to date with any upcoming social activities and networking with professionals.
