Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day-to-day I support Campaign Managers with administrative tasks to aid the delivery of publicity campaigns within the UK market. I additionally support and manage on-the-ground press tour logistics. This involves liaising with hotels, booking international travel, overseeing car transfers, and supporting talent within market. I additionally support the team by staffing events, premieres and press screenings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given lots of responsibility and ownership of tasks from day one. A large proportion of my role consists of managing our internal screening rooms to aid our publicity screening strategy. As part of this, I maintain active communication with journalists, producers, and PR agencies.

I have strongly developed my communication and interpersonal skills in this people-facing heavy role. I have gained a deep understanding of the UK press and media landscape, as well as my knowledge of delivering global saturation marketing and creative campaigns.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is very strong at Universal, and the team is built of passionate and kind individuals. The work culture can be quite high volume and intense within publicity, and I have found myself working out of hours with stressful deadlines. However, this is characteristic of publicity as a discipline, as opposed to reflective of NBCUniversal as a company.

Character is very important when interviewing with NBCUniversal. Ensure to be friendly, passionate, competent, and enthusiastic during interviews. Whilst experience is important, passion - especially when demonstrated objectively - often plays greater emphasis.
