Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Adding features, fixing bugs and working in a team of skilled developers in order to deliver a piece of software that controls the factory, manages formulas, batches production flows and more. I am involved in all stages of the software development cycle from planning to deployment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
My apprenticeship programme itself is pretty dull. Essays are not fun. However actually developing here is a blast. There is no getting around academic writing unfortunately so I can't really knock it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
When I came to Promtek I had virtually no skills in software development except for the fact that I knew how to code. Now I am considering architectural decisions in my own personal projects and creating complex multi part applications that communicate over the network. The amount of skills I have gained here in such a short time is amazing and I can't sing the companies praises enough to portray how thankful I am at the level of responsibility and opportunities for growth given to me at such a low experience level

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Yes reasonably organised and structured. The sessions we had included each stage of the SDLC.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Not loads but I think it's a good thing. If your hand is being held all the time you'll never learn to think for yourself and teach yourself things. There is lots of ways of finding things out and 1 to 1 support is not always the answer. I think the amount of support I get here is Golidlocks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support here is variable to your performance so it's tailored correctly to the student.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I learned some skills that would be overlooked here such as documentation and planning more effectively. These skills have translated well into my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is a charity walk for altsiemers I am involved in apart from that no.
