Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
During the three-week scheme, your time is evenly split with time spent in both the firm's litigation and transactional department with an assigned department supervisor and a trainee buddy to support you throughout the scheme. Each day is different and you are involved in a variety of interesting work from conducting research, drafting memos, attending client meetings, sitting in on live and mock hearings, and also completing assessed tasks and a group project.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It is exciting because you are given a real sense of what it is like to be a lawyer at Gibson Dunn, the firm's free market system provides exposure to the firm's work across its departments and its international offices. There are a variety of roles in recruitment, admin, and the secretarial support teams working alongside the junior and senior lawyers, and each role is integral to the business.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed it because each day you learnt something new, met a variety of professionals and were encouraged to be proactive and really get involved. My vacation scheme cohort was also well selected, despite being from various different backgrounds and stages in our careers, we all really get on well and keep in touch outside of the scheme. The scheme exceed my expectations and I would definitely go back and do it all again.
