Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I’m currently doing an apprenticeship in Electrical Mechanical Engineering at TNA Europe, where I work on machines like the TNA Robag. Day to day, I get hands-on experience testing and building both mechanically and electrically. This includes things like wiring, fault finding, assembling parts, and making sure the machines are working properly. I’m constantly learning by working alongside experienced engineers and getting involved in real projects that help me build my skills in both electrical and mechanical work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I genuinely enjoy my apprenticeship a lot because it’s hands-on and I’m always learning something new. I like that I’m not just stuck in a classroom all day — I’m actually working on real machines like the TNA Robag and getting proper experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering. It’s satisfying seeing how things work and knowing I played a part in building or fixing them. The team’s also supportive, and I get to work with experienced engineers who are always willing to teach me. It’s a great mix of learning, working, and developing skills I’ll use for the rest of my career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve definitely learnt a lot of new skills and improved on ones I already had. Since starting my apprenticeship, I’ve picked up hands-on skills like wiring, dead testing (like R1+R2), and using different tools and equipment safely. I’ve also developed my mechanical skills by helping build and maintain machines like the TNA Robag. On top of that, I’ve become way more confident working in a team, communicating with experienced engineers, and solving problems on the spot. Every week I’m learning something new and getting better at applying what I’ve learned in real situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is pretty well organised and has a solid structure. At work, I’ve got a clear routine with tasks like tool checks, testing, wiring, and mechanical builds, so I always know what I’m working on and what’s expected. There’s also a good balance between hands-on work and learning from others, which helps me stay on track. The college side of it supports what I’m doing at work, so I can connect the theory with the practical stuff. Overall, it’s structured in a way that helps me build my skills step by step without feeling overwhelmed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get a lot of support from my employer, especially from the engineers I work with. I’m lucky to be learning alongside people who’ve got decades of experience, and they’re always willing to pass on their knowledge, answer my questions, and show me the right way to do things. Whether it’s electrical testing, mechanical builds, or understanding how the TNA Robag works, there’s always someone there to guide me through it. They take the time to explain things properly and make sure I actually understand what I’m doing, which helps me improve a lot faster.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get a good amount of support from my training provider when it comes to working towards my qualifications. They check in regularly to see how I’m getting on, help me stay on top of my assignments, and make sure I understand the theory behind what I’m doing at work. If I’m ever stuck or unsure about something, I know I can reach out to my tutor for help, and they’ll go over it with me. They also give feedback on my work, which helps me improve and stay on track with my progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I’d say my qualification definitely helps me perform better in my role. The theory I learn through my training provider gives me a proper understanding of how and why things work, which makes it easier to apply that knowledge when I’m actually on the job. For example, learning about circuits, testing methods, and health and safety in college has helped me feel more confident when doing things like wiring or dead testing at work. It all connects really well, so when I’m doing something hands-on, I understand the reason behind it instead of just following instructions.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yeah, there are a few extra-curricular activities I can get involved in at work. We have weekly football games, which are a fun way to chill out and bond with people outside of the work environment. There are also charity events that the company gets involved with, which is a great way to give back and do something positive as a team. On top of that, there are sometimes professional networking opportunities where I can meet people from different areas of the industry and learn more about the bigger picture. It makes the workplace feel more like a community, not just a job.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend TNA Europe to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this company to a friend. The apprenticeship programme offers great hands-on experience, and I’ve learned a lot from the engineers who have years of experience. The support is solid, both from the team and the training provider, and there’s a real sense of community with things like the football games and charity events. It’s a place where you get to develop your skills in a practical way while working alongside people who are willing to teach you and help you grow.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TNA Europe?
My biggest tip would be to just be yourself. The team here values people who are genuine, willing to learn, and enthusiastic. Don’t try to be someone you’re not — show your true personality, and let them know you’re eager to learn and get stuck in. Also, be ready to ask questions and get involved, as this is the kind of environment where you’ll grow the most by being curious and proactive. If you show that you’re committed and willing to learn, you’ll fit right in!
