Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Posting journals and reconciling accounts to help produce monthly management accounts. This includes bank reconciliations, apportioning costs which are split over multiple sites. Producing reports to help Business unit managers make informed decisions on the company such as fleet reports detailing what we have spent over the last month/quarter/year.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme, i have been working towards my qualification prior to joining Enigma completing AAT and the work/life balance the apprenticeship allows for me to complete my studies alongside work and family life has allowed me to enjoy my time at work more. It is also very good at developing my understanding of how and why we do our tasks to give me more confidence in my role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting my role at enigma, i have developed my excel skills using formulas such as vlookups and pivots to produce reports, with new skill ssuch as data extractions and power queries. I have also delivered my first presentation to the team detailing the results i found relating to a report i was asked to produce detailing grant income we receive.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is flexible. it has set days for live classes, however if i am needed at work on that day, such as month end when we are busier, i can then rewatch the classes at a later date. This helps reduce the levels of work stress and choosing between working overtime/leaving my tasks for my colleagues to pick up.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

They allow me time to complete the required work. alongside this they allow for additional study days before my exams. This is a big help to allow me the best chance of working through my exams. The offer is also there to ask any questions which i may be stuck/confused on as other team members have passed their chartered exams.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Along side my online classes I have access to a learning portal which covers all the exam topics. This is great for revision. They offer marking mock exams and providing feedback, alongside my tutor who i can email any questions to, where they will come back on the same day.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification has given me greater knowledge into finance as a whole. It has helped me learn/understand concepts which has improved my ability to produce and understand reports giving me the confidence to create new reports from scratch which may be a help to the business. some of which have been used.
