Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My daily responsibilities primarily involve administrative support for both the Training and QSHE departments. This includes a range of data entry tasks, such as recording inspection numbers for the business and uploading essential information to facilitate grant claims.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed the modules and the work I have done to go into these, however, I have found some areas a little repetitive, with similar questions throughout some of my set work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Although I haven't acquired any entirely new skills yet, I have significantly enhanced my Excel proficiency by assisting colleagues. Additionally, I have greatly expanded my system expertise through hands-on experience with the newly implemented TMS system. Furthermore, I have expanded my system knowledge through using a system that is new to me, Sage. I am sure, with the upcoming launch of our Training Centre, I will be able to learn a whole range of skills relating to Apprenticeships, Training and much more!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The overall structure of the programme has been well-planned. However, one drawback I encountered—possibly due to the way my tutor organised it—was that the modules relevant to my CIPD assignments were allocated to me only after I had already completed the assignments, rather than beforehand.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received endless support from my employer. Before joining Enigma, I had started my apprenticeship with a different company but had not completed it. Enigma was incredibly enthusiastic about allowing me to continue my apprenticeship with them and has provided me with all the necessary tools and support to do so.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from Babington has been subpar at best. Since beginning my apprenticeship, I have had four different tutors, with gaps where I had no tutor at all. Each new tutor has had to spend our one-to-one sessions catching up on my progress rather than focusing on my development. At one point, I even went a few months without a tutor altogether.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My current apprenticeship doesn’t have a significant impact on my day-to-day role, though certain elements, such as data confidentiality, have proven useful. However, completing this apprenticeship will open the door for me to pursue the Level 5 Learning and Development Practitioner qualification, which will be far more beneficial to my role and I can't wait to see what I will learn from it.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I was lucky enough to attend the Apprentice of the year awards in 2024, however, I haven't been with the business too long but I am sure I will have the chance to attend more in the future.
