Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an IT Support Technician, I troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across schools. My day involves repairing devices, troubleshooting issues, checking backups are functioning, and assisting staff with tech problems. I provide remote support, monitor systems, and update the ticketing sheet on every visit. It’s extremely rewarding, ensuring smooth tech operations for teaching and learning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my IT apprenticeship, especially the hands-on experience in different schools. The fortnightly online sessions are helpful for building my technical knowledge and reinforcing what I learn on the job. It’s rewarding to solve problems, support staff, and see my skills grow with each challenge.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learnt so many things since shadowing when I first started. My troubleshooting skills have improved, and I’ve gained confidence in handling network issues, setting up new equipment, and supporting staff with software problems. I've also become better at managing my time and adapting to different school environments.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship is very well-organised and rewarding. I was given a clear schedule from the start, with fortnightly online learning sessions and regular progress reviews every month or two. The online portal has helped me to track my progress, see upcoming work, and stay on top of my learning goals.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is extremely supportive. Since the beginning I noticed how friendly and supportive all of my colleagues are. I am able to go to them for advice whether personal or related to troubleshooting issues and they have always helped me to learn and grow.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive great support from my training provider. They offer clear guidance during fortnightly online sessions and are always available to answer questions or provide extra help if needed. Regular progress reviews help me stay on track, and the online portal makes it easy to access resources and monitor my progress. I've also been given extra tips and assistance to push my work further to gain the best possible qualification
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This qualification is extremely helpful as I am able to apply what I have learnt through online sessions and e-learning and have been given the opportunity to apply these skills and knowledge on the job. I've been able to understand systems including legacy systems which has given me a well-rounded understanding
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
My employer offers a wonderful range of extra-curricular activities to be involved in from regular socials where we go out together to do an activity or to eat and meet as a team.

Yes
Why?
Interm IT is a wonderful company. Since the beginning the staff have been friendly and supportive and I have been able to grow tremendously. At first. I shadowed many of the consultants on the team who gave me an expansive amount of knowledge which I have applied when working in my own schools. When I need support whether technical or other they are always there. They are the best company I've ever worked for
