Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
This year, I am in the Compliance and Training department at Attwells. My day to day role involves assisting with compliance task and ensuring we are following all regulations and requirements, whilst also assisting with training tasks such as firm wide compliance, health and safety, and soft skill training. I also help with the admin side of the firm such as the post, dealing with reception calls etc...
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme very much. At first i was quite nervous as I started at 18 years old straight from sixth form, no knowing what to expect and what my future colleages would be like. However, everyone is extremely welcoming and I have settled in really well, with direct support from my line manager who is also the careers lead of the firm.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
100%. I have massively learnt how to present to people and show confidence in the workplace. As part of my role, I am doing quite a few careers talks at local colleges/sixth forms and have learnt how to present these which is something I have not had much experience in before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. The programme with BPP allows me to have one day a week off from work, studying towards my qualifications. This is currently a Tuesday, where I am encouraged to not work and to fully have the day off to study, which i really helpful and helps myself to plan my week out and prioritise tasks which are urgent on Mondays, and compete others after Tuesday.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Very much. My manager [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is always there to help with anything relating to my work and also my apprenticeship study. She directly liases with my university and helps me with any coursework or module knowledge I need help with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A good amount of support. I have a direct coach at BPP who is there to answer any questions I may have and helps to coordinate my coursework with my supervisor. My module teachers have been very knowledgeable and have explained things very well. I recently achieved 89% in my first module, with the pass mark being 40% which i am very proud of.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well. What i learn in theory through BPP helps me practically in my work especially when I go into conveyancing next year and I can use my contract law knowledge in my reviewing of contracts in conveyancing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, we often have networking events with other law firms and businesses. We also do lots of career talks and presentations at schools/colleges which anyone can volunteer to come along with.

Attwells is such a friendly environment to work in, everyone makes you feel welcome and even when started at 18, I did not feel out of place and I always feel very comfortable when I am working. The support from our Training Manager, Charlotte, is really helpful and she ensures we are progressing well with our university course, and our professional development in the wokplace.
